“Binary Star” is a cosmic synthesizer epic spanning an hour of interstellar bliss. It is deeply patient in its unfolding and invites the listener to leave their worldly cares behind and take a celestial journey through the star systems on board the ship that is Galecstasy. Primary Mystical Experience provides gravitational drones and spiraling arpeggios on his modular synthesizer decorated by sparse acoustic percussion while Raquel Bell offers shimmering FX and beautiful layers from Roland synthesizers sharing her accomplished operatic vocal work only when it matters most.
It should be noted that this document was recorded live in one take and was improvised with pure intention and deliberateness. This aspect makes the recording even more special as the element of risk is constant, daring the performers to exist peacefully and focused inside an organic manifold sonic kaleidoscope.
Galecstasy is an improvising duo based in Los Angeles, CA comprised of Jared Marshall (aka Primary Mystical Experience) and Raquel Bell (Leafblower, Normal Love, Mesiko, Dark Tips, Harry Partch). Galecstasy released our eclectic debut full-length album “Surprise” on cassette and digital via Aural Canyon March 1, 2020. Thanks for listening and traveling with us.
4 peaceful jazz vignettes. Belt of Venus is aquamarine, with a slow, tidal energy as dignified as the sea. The aptly named plantwood is budding, emergent as flowers on dewy moss in the forest.
Stained Glass Sauna has a smoky, mountain resonance, while the Sunken Cabin emerges slowly from dust-mote stillness to tortured but deliberating peaks. The whole thing is bursting with character. Tom Colquhoun
My god, what an absolutely incredible Suite. I'll admit, I've struggled to get into Pharoah Sanders due to diving headfirst into some of his most challenging catalogue and that never worked. This is the perfect place to restart. Floating Points is new for me and I can honestly say I've never heard synthesizer music this lush and organic before. the LSO is just perfect. This is one of those albums that any serious music fan needs in their life. The perfect swan song for the great Pharaoh! 5/5 ClassyMusicSnob
