hojascirculares is a project by Ara Hernandez that attempts to destroy the boundaries of softness and musicality. Moments of harsh noise are contrasted by silence and harmony; these elements blend together and are found with improvisation. Music becomes an intuitive process that can lead to odd avenues or primordial clarity. The aim of this project is catharsis–healing through confronting darkness.

void of course is meant to be a sister/ parallel to my last release, vessel. vessel was a product of catharsis, of channeling intensity into emotional caverns of sound. A process that then was followed by a feeling of lack, of emptiness, having poured everything into another project and left feeling with more questions than ever. I was placed into a more subdued and trance-like form of creating music. I let my subconscious take the driver’s seat and very slowly created this collection of sounds. My last record was urgent, created very quickly and intensely. The process with this record was methodical, arduously slow at times. I took care to layer sounds to recreate the shadow we all carry. The inter-dimensional aspects of the dream and subconscious world––walking through corridors in parallel worlds. So much of ourselves remains in the dark, unbeknownst to us.

I'm reaching out, limbs trembling––
light and shadows reign;
I move along, void of course,
empty myself out, dislodging––
discover what it means to survive;
seeing lightness ahead,
knowing i'm running of ways out––
growing so much older.
